Acia’s father abandoned the family when she was 5 years old. Then when she was 7 their house burned, so their mother put Acia and her younger brother, Bakai, in an orphanage. Their mother took them back and they lived with the man who fathered Anara. After the man died, they lived on the street for over a year before their mother brought them and their 18 month old sister, Anara, to our home. Acia was 11 years old when she ended up in our home, she had spent 4 years of her childhood in state-run orphanages or on the streets.
